QANTAS AND BP TEAM UP to COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE
| Qantas and British multinational oil and gas company, BP, are working towards a low carbon future. This clever partnership aims to cut carbon emissions in the aviation sector and both companies aim to increase collaboration in this area over time. Long term, they have ambitious net-zero emission goals. Australia’s biggest airline and BP have a 2050 timeline to achieve this target. Short term, Qantas wants to cap its net CO2 emissions at 2019 levels. Moreover, they are jointly involved in developing alternative energy solutions to oil, natural gas, and liquefied natural gas to explore opportunities to reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector and contribute to the development of a sustainable aviation fuel industry.
