The European Green deal, step towards climate neutral Europe
It’s no secret that climate change is a serious concern and thanks to the political guidelines published by Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, in July 2019, Europe is finally taking a step to become climate neutral. In order to achieve this goal by 2050, the EU will need to cut emissions by 55% by 2030. It may seem that the COVID pandemic and the decreased economic activity led to a reduction in carbon emissions. However, the EU has found itself facing recession and due to the resolution adopted on 15 May 2020, Parliament called for a recovery plan with the Green Deal at its core. The European Green Deal provides an action plan to boost the efficient use of resources by moving to a clean, circular economy, to restore biodiversity and last but not the least, to cut the pollution. It will require action by all sectors of the economy, however the supply chain industry definitely has a key role to play. Meeting the carbon-neutral goals outlined in the European Commission’s Green Deal strategy will indeed require significant investment in research and development and will force the companies to invest into digitalisation and innovations. We are proud to announce, that Green Deal is one the main pillars of the conference program at WOF EXPO 2021 and we are inviting you for a series of topics, that will be debate on the reduction of carbon footprint, we will look into the alternative fuels such as clean hydrogen derived fuels, electromobility and last but not the least, we will be focusing on Smart Cities, which lean towards cleaner, cheaper and healthier forms of private and public transport.
