The Suez Canal is back in business
The 400m-long Ever Given containership that has been stuck for almost a week has been finally freed, paving the way to open the critical waterway. The Egyptian officials confirmed this good news and the Suez Canal authority said that work would resume on moving the vessel when high tide is reached. However, to completely free the vessel would not be an easily accomplished task. Although the Ever Given has been freed, supply chain delays continue. More than 360 vessels are now waiting to pass along the canal, with approximately $9.6bn worth of goods being held up each day.
