Digital Covid Travel Pass ready “within weeks”
The digital Covid Travel Pass is an app that verifies a passenger has had the Covid-19 tests or vaccines required to enter a country and it is safe to say it will be an essential tool for long awaited quarantine free travel. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) says it is planned to be ready “within weeks”. As many countries have strict restrictions or quarantines in place, the industry body sees the pass as necessary for reopening air travel. The Covid Travel Pass will provide travelers and governments with peace of mind by giving them the confidence that the testing is accurate and meets the conditions of every government. The Travel Pass, expected to be free, will be available on iOS and Android platforms. “We are currently working with a number of airlines worldwide and learning from these pilots. And the plan is to go live in March,” said Vinoop Goel, IATA’s regional director of airports and external relations. “So basically we expect to have a fully functional working system over the next few weeks.” Read more here👇👇👇 |
