Parcel Monitor: Peak shopping season predictions in Europe
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a surge in e-commerce growth across Europe. In 2021, 74% of European internet users shopped online – the most we have seen in a decade. Amidst this rapid adoption of e-commerce throughout the region, consumers are also returning to brick-and-mortar stores in increasing numbers, especially during the period(s) leading up to holiday sales. Even as the world returns to the “new normal”, the global supply chain continues to be affected by delays and disruptions due to COVID-19, thus presenting retailers with many new challenges. In response to a question about his predictions for the peak season of 2022, Wolfgang Lehmacher, Supply Chain & Technology Expert at Parcel Monitor, said: “The peak season 2022 will probably not be as dramatic as what we have seen during the hot times in the last two years.
